Keep your data when updating
Check WhatsApp → Settings → Chats → Chat backup, including the account and backup date. Keep registration codes and backup passwords private. Backups made by modified clients are not guaranteed to restore.
Use the original distribution channel where possible. Compare the package and edition before replacing an installation. A different signature or an older version can prevent an update; do not uninstall or clear data as the first troubleshooting step.
If installation or playback does not work
Identify whether you installed from Google Play or whatsapp.com. Check connection, free storage and the requirements shown by that channel before trying another package.
Check the Android requirements and architecture shown above. Open the downloaded APK on your own Android device, read its notices and keep system protections enabled. Review any temporary browser installation permission afterward.

Why is WhatsApp not updating?
Update through the channel you originally used. If Google Play shows Open, that store is not offering an update for your situation at that time. This does not mean an APK from another source will install.
Can I install this over GBWhatsApp or WhatsApp Plus?
Do not assume they are the same package or that backups will transfer. WhatsApp does not support those variants. Preserve important data and read its instructions for switching to the official app before uninstalling.
What if I see “You need the official WhatsApp” or a suspension?
Use WhatsApp’s account help and any review option shown in the app. This is not an ARM64 selection problem. GOAPK cannot unlock accounts and does not offer an anti-ban edition.
Which file should I choose?
The reviewed web channel supplies one APK in this selection. Check its Android requirements and size. Google Play is another option where available. The picker cannot read the signing key of the app already on your phone.
